- Connect Telegram: Receive Tender Alerts on Telegram
Introduction
Linking your account to the TendersAlerts Telegram bot lets you receive new tender alerts directly in the Telegram app, with the ability to view details, study the tender on the web, and request the tender specifications document (TSD) as a PDF.
The system offers two methods to link and verify your account:
- Method 1 - Quick link connection: the fastest and easiest, with a single tap.
- Method 2 - Manual code verification: a practical fallback when automatic linking isn't possible.
Both methods lead to the same result: a verified Telegram account that receives your alerts.
What you need before starting
- An active TendersAlerts account.
- The Telegram app installed on your phone or device.
- Access to the Telegram connect dialog from your account settings or the "Connect Telegram" button.
When you open the connect dialog and your account isn't linked yet, you'll see the following options:
Connect your Telegram account to receive instant tender alerts.
Method 1: Quick link connection
This is the recommended method because it's a single tap and verification happens automatically without entering any code.
Steps:
- Open the Telegram connect dialog.
- Tap the "Connect via Telegram" button.
- A personal link is generated and the Telegram app opens automatically on the bot's chat.
- Tap the Start button inside the bot chat.
- As soon as you tap Start, the system verifies automatically and your account appears as linked and verified.
Important note: While waiting for confirmation, the dialog stays in a waiting state and periodically checks whether linking is complete. There's no need to close the dialog or retry manually.
When linking succeeds, the dialog switches to the "connected" state:
Method 2: Manual code verification
Use this method if automatic linking doesn't complete, or if you prefer entering the verification code manually. To access it, tap "Enter code manually instead" below the quick connect button.
This method consists of three sequential steps:
Step 1: Enter your Telegram username
Enter your Telegram username, then tap Save.
How to use:
- Type your Telegram username in the dedicated field.
- Tap the Save button.
- After saving, your bot link is prepared, the system immediately starts checking for link completion as soon as the username is saved, and the next step appears.
Note: Make sure you enter the same username associated with your Telegram account so linking works correctly.
Step 2: Open the bot and press Start
After saving the username, the open-bot step appears, and the system has already started automatically checking whether the chat is linked. While waiting, a separate indicator shows "Waiting for you to press Start…":
Waiting for you to press Start…
How to use:
- Tap the "Open Bot" button to open the bot chat in Telegram (this button only opens the chat; the automatic check has been running since you saved your username).
- Tap the Start button inside the chat.
- As soon as the system detects your Start press, the waiting indicator turns into a green alert "Bot connected. You can now send the code.":
Bot connected. You can now send the code.
Important note: The send-code button in the next step won't be enabled until the system detects that you pressed Start (i.e., after the chat is linked).
Step 3: Send and enter the verification code
After the chat is linked, request the code then enter it for final verification.
Waiting for you to press Start…
How to use:
- Tap "Send code to my Telegram"; you'll receive a 6-digit code in the bot chat.
- Enter the code in the dedicated field.
Waiting for you to press Start…
- Tap the Verify button.
- When the code is correct, your account is verified and switches to the connected state.
Note: The code is valid for a limited time. If it expires, tap "Send code" again to get a new one.
After linking is complete
Once your account is verified (via either method), the "connected" state appears and includes:
- A green indicator confirming successful linking.
- The linked Telegram username.
- The verification date.
- A "Disconnect" button to unlink Telegram at any time.
Practical examples
Example 1: Quick link in seconds
Goal: Connect Telegram the fastest way.
Steps:
- Open the connect dialog.
- Tap "Connect via Telegram".
- Tap Start in the chat that opened.
- Wait a moment until the "connected" state appears.
Example 2: Manual linking when auto-open fails
Goal: Complete linking when Telegram doesn't open automatically.
Steps:
- Tap "Enter code manually instead".
- Enter the username and tap Save.
- Tap "Open Bot" then Start.
- Tap "Send code", enter the code, then Verify.
Example 3: Reconnecting after disconnecting
Goal: Resume receiving alerts after previously unlinking Telegram.
Steps:
- Open the connect dialog (it appears in the not-connected state).
- Follow either of the methods above to link again.
Tips for successful linking
1. Try the quick method first
- Always start with the "Connect via Telegram" button since it's the fastest with the fewest steps.
2. Don't close the dialog while waiting
- The system verifies automatically; closing the dialog may stop this check.
3. Make sure you press Start
- Linking won't complete (and the send-code button won't enable) until you press Start inside the bot chat.
4. Request a new code if it expires
- If you take too long to enter the code, resend it to get a valid one.
Integration with other features
After connecting Telegram, you'll receive notifications and tender following alerts via the Telegram channel, in addition to email, with buttons to view details, study the tender, and request the specifications document directly from the chat.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use both methods? Yes, both methods lead to the same result. Use the quick method, and if it fails, switch to manual code linking.
Why is the "Send code" button disabled? Because the system hasn't detected your Start press yet. Open the bot and press Start until the chat-linked confirmation message appears.
How long does the code stay valid? The code is valid for a short time. If it expires, tap "Send code" again.
How do I disconnect Telegram? From the "connected" state, tap the "Disconnect" button. You can reconnect later at any time.
Is Telegram a replacement for email? No, Telegram is an additional, fast channel. You can enable both Telegram and email.
Conclusion
Connecting Telegram gives you instant tender alerts inside an app you use daily. Choose quick link connection for the fastest experience, or manual code verification as a reliable fallback, and in both cases you'll get a verified account that receives your opportunities the moment they're published.
